Here's the trailer for the 1979 TV movie Salem's Lot, directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and based on the novel by Stephene King. Not having read the novel, I'm in no position to say how faithful the adaptation is, but it's a good flick. One of the best TV movies made, in my opinion. They remade it in 2004 with Rob Lowe, Donald Sutherland, and Rutger Hauer, but I haven't seen that one, so I don't know how they compare. Have any of you guys seen both? Which one's better? Which is more faithful to the novel. Enquiring minds want to know®.
