L.A. ROAD TRIP - PART 1

I went on another trip to L.A. last week. This time I rode with a friend of mine who lives out here. First up, we went to Museum of the American West. I took a bunch of pictures, some of which are posted below. Click each picture to enlargificate.

No museum of the old west would be complete without a tribute to the Duke (that's John Wayne, for those of you who are cinematically illiterate).

And let's not forget Clint Eastwood. The costume and sign are from the movie Unforgiven.

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know I'm a Tombstone buff; the city and the various movies based on it's history. This display is a tribute to Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, and Ned Buntline. Buntline is credited with having invented the dime novel, the media through which the legends of the west were first spread.

Another Tombstone tribute, the revolver supposedly belonged to Doc Holliday.

After we toured the museum, our next stop was a place any die-hard Dragnet and Adam-12 fan would want to see.

Here's the entrance to the LAPD Academy.

Here's a picture of the main building at the LAPD Academy.

Our next stops, made at my request, were at the scenes of a couple famous crimes. I'll post the pictures of those locations tomorrow.
