Yup, that's me. Fair and balanced. Like Hannity and Colmes, except without the ear-piercing screaming (I hate that). Back in 2004, I wrote a blog post about this story:

Two Boys Stabbed In Pork Chop Dispute

DECEMBER 21--Meet Tammie Josette Peter. The Louisiana woman, 31, allegedly stabbed her 12-year-old son and 15-year-old brother after discovering that the older boy was cooking pork chops for himself. According to the below report prepared by Ouachita Parish sheriff's deputies, Peter went nuts after returning to her Monroe home late Sunday evening and seeing her sibling "cooking two pork chops for himself and none for anyone else." After throwing one chop at the boy, the "altercation turned physical," with Peter stabbing her son in the shoulder when he tried to keep her from arguing with the older child (the boy received stitches at an area hospital). The older boy wasn't so lucky. As Peter's boyfriend was preparing to take the 15-year-old somewhere else to spend the night, the woman allegedly stabbed her brother in the chest (the boy is hospitalized in critical condition). Peter, locked up in the Ouachita Correctional Center in lieu of $15,000 bond, has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery.

Well, yesterday I received the following comment on the post:

I AM THE WOMAN IN THIS STORY AND THIS ARTICLE IS COMPLETELY WRONG AND THIS DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER THE REAL STORY IS I WAS 8 1/2 MONTHS PREGNANT AND WAS CURRENTLY IN THE HOSPITAL I WAS RELEASED AT ABOUT 6:10 P.M. I ARRIVED HOME ABOUT 6:25 P.M. THE YOUNG THAT WAS INJURED AND IN CRITICAL CONDITION WAS MY 15 YR. OLD BROTHER THAT HAD ATTACKED ME IN THE KITCHEN HE BEGIN TO KICK AND PUNCH ME IN THE STOMACH AND ONCE AGAIN THIS WAS NOT BEHIND ANY FOOD MATTERS THIS WAS MERELY HE WANTED A PAIR OF JORN TENNIS SHOES AND I COULD NOT PROVIDE FOR THEM AT THE TIME THEY DONT TELL ALL THAT HAPPENED THE DAY BEFORE THIS INCIDENT HE THROW FOOD IN MY FACE MY BROTHER WAS TROUBLED ALREADY ANDD IT WAS SELF DEFENSE OF DEFENDING MY UNBORN CHILD IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE I WOULD PLEASED IF I WAS A DANGER TO SOCIETY AND TO MY CHILDREN WHY THEN CHARGES WERE DROPPED AND DISMISSED AND BEING EXPUNGED OFF MY RECORD THE NEWS MEDIA ALWAYS PRINT UNTRUE ARTICLES THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED

I did a little research, and could not find a follow-up story, so I can't verify what the commenter said about the charges being dropped, why they were dropped, or about the circumstances of the incident. I can't even verify the identity of the commenter. So I'll just report, and I'll let you decide. Never let it be said that I'm unfair. Incoherent, maybe. But never unfair*.

*OK, my kids say I'm unfair. But, in my defense, as a parent, it's my sworn duty to be "unfair" to them.
